TOP 10 Social Media Revelations
Top 10 Social Media Revelations Countdown
10) BRANDING.
Personal Branding and how important it is to us. The beauty
of social media has allowed corporate companies and ordinary people to develop
a brand by being active on social media. In this new media landscape called
social media, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram are all easy platforms to
begin promoting your brand and allowing people to follow the journey and get
close and personal with you’re followers. When starting a business or
Non-Profit organization no matter how big or small a company maybe, social
media will help start that foundation. Innovation is key to kick starting a
brand or reinventing a brand on social media and if people appreciate that a
brand is original they will follow you and it’s been proven that having
different social media platforms will help a brand evolve to advancement or
take a major company to reach new heights.
Take for Instance #ShareaCoke campaign. This campaign went
viral in the United States and caused CocaCola to reinvent its entire brand.
The company also invited consumers to personalize their own Coke Bottle and
share them with friends on Social Media using the Hashtag #ShareaCoke.
9) SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE ADDICTING
It’s
a known fact that the number of social network users worldwide values at 2.34
billion. As of 2016 the number of active facebook users worldwide is 1.71
billion, and the number of monthly active Twitter users consists of 313 million
users every month throughout 2016. Almost a quarter of the world’s population
uses social media. The access to social media is undeniably all over and has
certainly become part of our everyday lives. People depend on social media
because we can easily get in touch with family but also receive our news. It’s
become a routine to wake up to social media and go to sleep with social media.
We all feel that we need to catch up with conversations or browse through
photographs on our timelines.
8) STARTING A MOVEMENT WITH A #HASHTAG
Twitter,
Facebook, and now Instagram all have trending topics. Hashtags are the new
representation of news headlines and have become influential at keeping people
responsive and entertained. Trending Topics on social media has enlightened users
to offer many insightful 140-character words. Everyone has something to say and
it’s all equally important. Hashtags are important because it’s helpful with
promotion but it also gives companies an idea of what people are watching and
paying attention to what is popular. Hashtags usually relate to breaking news
stories or special events but it can also help generate a positive tool for
business use. Hashtags have become the modern day Newspeak.
7) Social Media keeps changing and evolving.
As
we enter into a new year the media industry is wondering what might be the next
trend because social media as well as the streaming industry is evolving to
become better. I think 2016 was a huge year for social media, the impact of the
US election was significant throughout the whole year. This was the year that
Snapchat really took off and people started to get hooked on snapping their
adventures everywhere. In addition Facebook and Instagram are still two of the
most popular social platforms that have made transitions for the better
throughout the year. In 2017 I imagine that social media will enforce more live
video content, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will slowly take over
television, and brands will become more involved with consumers then ever
before.
6) Social Media Kills Time.
People
find that using Social Media gets them through a long day of work and school.
Research has shown that Facebook users on average spend more than eight hours a
month on Facebook according to Techcrunch.com. The younger generation known as
Generation Y born in the 80’s and 90’s seem to use social media because it
kills time. Spending hours on social media can easily distract people from
getting Homework or personal projects completed. We may not realize how much
time we dedicate our lives to social media.
5) Dating and social media friendships
Online
dating is the natural development in an era where social interaction is more
likely to take place over your phone or computer. For instance the App Tinder
is a location base social search application on a device that allows people to
connect with other users. In the era we’re currently living in people want
romance just like they want their movie or Netflix on demand.
4) The Instagram World
Instagram
is one of the most trendy social media networks today. To many users Instagram
has become a platform that has launched the careers of so many and also been
able to help a company build a clientele. My experience with Instagram has
allowed me to make friends, share my art of photography with my followers. When
starting a business it’s best to share everything, and make an effort to
connect with those who follow you. I have a feeling Instagram will be around
for a long time, social media apps tend to fade out like Myspace, and Vine,
Though Instagram has staying power.
3) How companies are running successful content on Social
Media
When
it comes to your business, in today’s society using as many social media sites
as possible is important. Especially for small business owners have found
social media to be great and an inexpensive way to expand a business with
little funds to back it up. I found that it’s important to understand the goals
of a company, generate buzz and interaction. For the small companies to run a
successful social media presence they would need to aim for their clients and
provide a reason for why a particular company stands out from the rest. Another
method is to listen to what customers want that bigger businesses don’t already
have.
2) CELEBRITY
Celebrity
lands second on my chart because without celebrity social media would be
boring. From magazines, entertainment news, photographs, we are constantly
surrounded by celebrity culture in the social media landscape. Celebrities
influence us on how we dress, what we listen to, what we should buy. Social
Media has given celebrities more exposure then ever before and we the public
are very interested in knowing about their personal lives. Just like a brand
celebrities have taken the power of social media to post their own photos and
promote their latest projects. I think Celebrities will continue to use social
media because it’s the future and they are actually benefiting off of it with
advertising and promoting projects.
1)
Show the world you’re Personality!
Isn’t this really
what social media is all about? We users have social media accounts to post
photos, videos, and messages to reveal our personality and connect with others.
The most important element of social media is for people to just be themselves
and share their feelings to the world. With Facebook people tend to express
messages, and stories about anything that’s on their mind. The purpose of
Twitter allows people to keep up with news and communicate quickly and sharing
information with other users. With Instagram we can post creative photos, keep
up with our favorite celebrities and discover millions of other photos from
around the world. Social media is awesome because it gives people the outlet to
show the world you’re personality.
